Tall Tales Vol.2
Celebrating 10 Years of Tall Tales!
Tall Tales Vol. 2 is almost here, and we have so much to share! To top that off, this month is designer Arleen's birthday, so what a better way to celebrate then dive into her newest collection, in her own words.
Howdy fine fabric aficionados!
Let's start from the beginning, way back 10 years ago when we released my very first collection, Tall Tales! This very personal collection of mystical whimsy, and hidden motifs, was my whole vibe from that moment in time. I was beside myself that some of you really loved it, too!

About 2 years ago (but really, maybe more!) I wanted to get reacquainted with my roots, and a Tall Tales reboot dream hatched. I wanted to bring back that mystical whimsy, with a more earthy palette that really played well with our beautiful poplin solid colors. I wanted to feel the warm desert sun, the cool evening breeze, and smell the blooming cacti all at once. Western, vintage, ethereal.

How do you think I did, without straying too far from the simple palette and vintage western style designs?

I chose twelve solids that balanced the the colors and really made it feel like a vast night sky looming over a pinky sunset. This group of 12 is available in a case pack.

I used some of our Camp Basics to coordinate to make the mock up for this one, however solids in Conch, Huckleberry, and Kelp or Eucalyptus would give a similar effect. The beautiful blush red is Apricot Brand Solid Poplin.Â

This limited color uses only 4 prints paired with our Natural Linen, that we are working hard to bring back as soon as possible! Quilt pattern is Fat Quarter Stars by Suzy Quilts in a baby size. Trigger will be the backing fabric, once I get to the quilting part!

Here are some other gorgeous mock ups made by Kitchen Table Quilting. Patterns are The Violet Quilt (above) and The Libby Quilt (below, right). Alternatively you can keep it simple and really showcase the print with a 2 fabric Irish Chain quilt. Try Celtic Crossing 2.0 by Lo & Behold Stitchery.

Ok guys, I will be honest, I have BIG dreams when it comes to clothing and Tall Tales! It was difficult to hone in on just a few pieces, and I am sure once time permits (I have two toddlers in my home!) I will be able to create more gorgeous pieces to add to the capsule wardrobe I am working on.Â
Here are a few pieces I have decided on, and I will share the finished pieces as I complete them.
First up is Skirt With Yoke - Sewing Pattern #2079 by Lekala Sewing Patterns. I love an old frontier look so much. Take your cottage core, but make it western, I say!
To pair with the skirt, I have an Aston Top by Helen's Closet Patterns. This simple silhouette balanced the detail and structure of the skirt. I chose to pair with our gorgeous Natural Sold Poplin for this particular outift, but any of the prints in this collection would make a very cute top! I will likely make more of these to wear with jeans.
And lastly, (for now!) I plan to make my daughter a dress from Daisy Dress Pattern by Oh Me Oh My Sewing. We've used this pattern to make samples loads of times as its such a cute staple, and always makes cute prints shine.
Thanks so much if you've made it this far! I hope you have enjoyed my journey and inspiration for Tall Tales and are inspired to make with it too!
Happy Sewing!
Arleen
